2011 AHRQ Annual Meeting to Include HAI Coverage

The 2011 Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Annual Convention, AHRQ: Leading Through Innovation & Collaboration, will be held in Bethesda, Maryland on September 18-21, 2011. The “event wil emphasize how AHRQ is leading change in addresssing today’s challenges in improving access to care and its qualty and cost, as well as partnering with others at the forefront of these issues.”

In addition to the myriad of patient safety topics that will be presented at the conference, two sessions will specifically adress healthcare-associated infections (HAIs):

  1. 2nd Annual Meeting of AHRQ Healthcare-Associated Infections Investigators (by invitation)
  2. Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program. “The session will feature a discussion of the various attributes that are involved in a comprehensiive unit-based safety program (CUSP) including the various applications of CUSP for the prevention of HAIs and other patient safety areas. Emphasis will be placed on the implementation and adoption of CUSP across the country and lessons learned about changing practice at the unit level for sustainment.”
