AHRQ Funding Available to Support State Efforts in Reducing CLABSIs

In a July 20, 2010 news release, the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) has announced the availability of new funding aimed at eliminating hospital central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs).

A total of $5.8 million in funding will be made available to states that particiate in the comprehensive unit-based Safety Program (CUSP), On the Cusp: Stop BSI Initiative. ┬áThe funding is being provided by the Department of Health & Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

States may apply for up to $70,000 over a two year period to allow for staffing needs. Supplemental funding may also be available.
