January 5, 2013

The January issue of the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC) provides coverage to personal protective equipment (PPE) and its role in infection prevention.

Major articles span topics including healthcare worker perceptions as a predictor of PPE uptake, store determinants of nurse adherance to use of masks, pharmacy respiratory hygiene in emergency departments, and development and validation of tools to assess the use of PPE in healthcare. Brief reports examine additional aspects of PPE and also delve into such topics as hand contamination with Aspergillus during demolition work and hepatitis C transmission due to contamination of multi-dose medication vials.
