Educational Session at AHCA Annual Conference Will Focus On Long-Term Care Infection Control Citations

July 14, 2011

The American Health Care Association’s AHCA/NCAL 62nd Annual Convention & Expo will be held on September 18-21, 2011 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The conference will be providing over 70 education sessions dedicated to “the long term care profession’s best practices, ideas, and concepts.”

One of those educational courses will provide important information about infection control and the issuance of citations.

The presentation, titled “S-1 F441 Infection Control: An Outbreak of Citations,” will be given by Karen K. Hoffman, RN, MS, CIC, Associate Director for the North Carolina Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE).  Ms. Hoffman is also a clinical instructor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC, Division of Infectious Diseases.

The following description is given for the session:

There are a high number of F441 tags nationally, due to CMS emphasis on “Never Events”, hospital-acquired infections, and re-hospitalizations. Effective partnerships among health care providers are vital for the protection of patients and the facility.

This looks like a very interesting session.  If you are attending the conference, I’d recommend sitting in for the presentation.
