Florida Implements CDI Prevention Collaborative

The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) has implemented a Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI) Collaborative aimed at reducing CDI by 30% by December 2011.  The collaborative, here which will include acute care hospitals, no rx is scheduled to begin in September of 2010.

The collaborative will be utilizing National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) case definitions. Outcomes will be measured based on LabID events.

Hospitals will be requested to designate at least one hospital unit to measure CDI reductions. CDI evidence-based prevention strategies will be used for the collaborative.
