Harvard Study: Preventing Avoidable Infectious Complications by Adjusting Payment

Researchers from the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health will be conducting research on preventing avoidable infectious complications by adjusting payment (PAICAP).  The goal of the research, also known as the PAICAP Project, is to determine the impact of Medicare’s policy of non-payment for preventable complications.

Other collaborators for the research include: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Healthcare Safety Network; The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
