HHS National Awards Program to Recognize Achievements in HAI Elimination

December 5, 2011

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in partnership with the Critical Care Societies Collaborative (CCSC) is sponsoring a program for the recognition of critical care professionals and healthcare institutions for their leadership in reducing or eliminating healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

This marks the second year HHS has given the awards.  In the previous year, prescription thirty-seven hospitals and healthcare facilities were recognized.

Hospitals, patient units and teams that have successfully reduced or eliminated HAIs in programs lasting 25 months or longer are invited to apply for the awards.  The deadline is December 19, 2011.
