IHI Provides Wealth of Infection Prevention Information Through Mentor Hospital Registry

August 1, 2011

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) provides an enormous wealth of information and resources pertaining to infection control and prevention and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) through its Mentor Hospital Registry.

The Registry, store which is included on the IHI website, pharm provides contact information and resource materials from organizations that “have volunteered to provide support, online advice, clinical expertise, and tips to hospitals seeking help with their implementation efforts.”  The Registry is designed so that healthcare improvement professionals can identify, based on appropriate criteria, the best suitable mentor hospital to contact for assistance.

In addition to other improvement areas, several common hospital- or healthcare-associated infections or infection prevention and control efforts are listed as keywords for classifying the volunteer hospitals:

  • Catheter-associated urinary tract infection
  • Central line bundle
  • Hand Hygiene
  • Infection prevention: MRSA
  • Infection prevention: surgical site infections (SSI)
  • Surgical safety checklist
  • Venous thromboembolus (VTE)
  • Ventilator bundle
