Infection Control Today Issues 2011 State of the Industry Report

July 1, 2011

The online magazine Infection Control Today (ICT) has issued its 2011 State of the Industry Digital Report.

The report is designed to provide an overview of the trends and issues facing ICT readers working in five different sectors: infection prevention, clinic operating room, viagra sterile processing, link environmental services, and materials management.

The data presented in the report was acquired by conducting anonymous electronic polls of ICT subscribers. ICT recognizes the polls are not scientific, however it states “the results provide an intriguing look inside these departments and provoke dialogue about what is happening in the current economic climate.”

According to ICT, the data included in the report includes the following:

  • Demographic data from practitioners, including length of work history, education level and professional credentials, department size, and facility geographic location
  • Impact of staffing/resource/budget cuts
  • practitioner workload
  • Professional society membership
  • Participation in education and training activities
  • Collaboration with hospital departments
  • Perceived barriers to compliance
  • Key industry issues to address
