New York State Issues Annual Healthcare-Acquired Infections Report

The New York State Department of Health has issued its annual Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAI) report.  Issued on September 20, buy 2011, physician this is the fourth annual report issued by the state since reporting began in 2007.

The report is a compilation of 2010 data from 177 hospitals.  It provides HAI rates for the following:

  • Surgical site infections (SSIs) (colon, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and hip replacement),
  • Central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs) in adult, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units, and
  • Clostridium difficile gastrointestinal infections.
