NYSNA Convention 2011 Will Include Safe Injection Practices Session

The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) Convention 2011, cure “Healthcare: powered by nurses, capsule ” occurring in Niagara Falls, pharm New York on September 22-25, 2011, will include a continuing education sessions titled “Safe Injection Practices: What Every Nurse Should Know.”

The session will be given by Ernest Clement, RN, MSN, CIC, and will occur on Friday, September 23 at 3:30 – 4:45.

Following evidence-based guidelines and understanding proper use of needles and syringes will help healthcare providers ensure their own safety as well as the safety of their patients. When safe injection practices are not followed, dangerous health-related incidents can occur. Recent investigations undertaken by state and local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified improper use of syringes, needles, and medication vials during routine healthcare procedures, such as administering injections. Attend this session to learn ways to ensure you are utilizing safe injection practices.
