Nominations for the HHS-APIC-SHEA 2012 Partnership in Prevention Award are now being accepted. The award has been created by a partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc (APIC) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).
The purpose of the award is to highlight and promote the work of one hospital that has achieved sustainable improvements based on the “National Action Plan to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections: Roadmap to Elimination” and which is also helping to achieve goals of the HHS Partnership for Patients Initiative. The intent of the award program is to provide recognition to “prevention leaders in the U.S. acute care community who have achieved wide-scale reduction and progress toward elimination of targeted HAIs.”
Nominations are being accepted through August 1, 2012. The award announcement will take place on October 15, 2012 at the 2012 International Infection Prevention Week.
