Ruth Carrico, University of Louisville Professor, Appointed to Infection Control Committee HICPAC

A University of Louisville School of Public Health & Information Sciences faculty member has been appointed to the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). Ruth Carrico, PhD has been appointed as one of 14 experts serving on HICPAC.

The HICPAC experts advise the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on matters pertaining healthcare infection control practice, surveillance strategies, and infection prevention and control. The committee also makes recommendations for new infection control guidelines and updates to policies pertaining to the prevention of various types of healthcare-associated infections.
