Scotland Issues Healthcare Associated Infections Report

Health Protection Scotland has issued a report detailing the surveillance of healthcare associated infections (HAIs) in Scottish Intensive Care Units.

The annual report, ampoule containing data from January 2010 to December 2010, cialis “represents a significant achievement by Health Protection Scotland (HPS), seek the Scottish Intensive Care Society Audit Group (SICSAG) and the Scottish Critical Care clinical workforce.”

The report contains data relating to central venous catheter-related infections (CRI), central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection (CR-BSI), pneumonia, and bloodstream infections (BSI).

Data from 5284 patients of 23 Scottish intensive care units were collected.  “A total of 348 infections were reported from from 295 (5.6%) patients.”  The findings are consistent with that presented in a pilot study report issued earlier this year.
