U.S. Congressional Briefing to Address Healthcare Transmission of Hepatitis and HIV

A U.S. Congressional briefing scheduled for Monday, order July 25th, 2011 will address safe injection practices and the problematic growth of healthcare transmission of hepatitis and HIV, particularly in non-hospital settings.

The congressional briefing, “Injections without Infections: Eliminating the Healthcare Transmission of Bloodborne Diseases,” will examine the increased frequency of healthcare transmission of hepatitis and HIV as healthcare-associated infections (HAI).

Confirmed speakers will include:

  • Dr. Michael Bell, Deputy Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Healthcare Quality and Promotion
  • Dr. Evelyn McKnight, President and Founder of HONOReform
  • Christine Zambricki, Deputy Executive Director, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Alliance for Injection Safety Representative
The briefing will occur on Monday, July 25, 2011, at 2pm EDT in the 430 Dirksen Senate Office Building.
